State of the SIG (VCP)
Remarks from the Chair
Posted - 5-8-08
PMI’s Virtual Communities Project is engaged in making some changes to the current model of how SIGs operate, including removing their status as independent non-profits. The objective is to provide a more balanced level of service across all the components. This is a valiant goal and the IT&T SIG Board of Directors is very supportive of PMI’s intentions to make sure that all the SIGs are delivering value for their members. While PMI is still working on the VCP pilot program, I, and the entire IT&T SIG Board, want to make sure you are up to speed on what is happening. We are actively engaged with PMI in discussing their new model and how it may impact the IT&T SIG, we believe in their objective, but at the same time we are deeply focused on making sure that the value we deliver for our membership, like the new programs mentioned above, is something which we are able to continue.
As new information comes to light and as we continue working with PMI in response to their VCP efforts we will be posting updates to this page. We urge you to keep checking back and to reach out to PMI with your opinions on VCP. Again, our primary concern is the members of the IT&T SIG and the work we are fortunate enough to be able to do for them. We are working hard to make sure we are able to continue to grow our global presence, reach beyond the boundaries we have previously known and make good on our promise to connect people to data to ideas.
Thanks,
Dave Prior
