Dave Prior
Since then he has been fortunate enough to have worked across just about every area of IT Project Management. From DSL rollouts, and large scale infrastructure migration projects to customized e-commerce and CRM system development, Dave has been able to develop a broad range of IT PM experience. Dave has been formally teaching project management since early 2000, and has taught in the US, Europe, Latin America and the UAE.
In early 2000 Dave founded a web and handheld design shop based in New York City called RedStapler.com. Dave also served as the Director of Production and Executive Producer for OneMain.com, a subsidiary of Earthlink, where he established, staffed and managed a production office in New York.
In developing his own personal approach to Project Management, Dave has relied heavily on the lessons and tools provided in Sun Tzu’s Art of War. Dave and former SIG Chair, Bob Tarne, gave a presentation contrasting the leadership styles of Lao Tzu and Sun Tzu, as it relates to Project Management, during the 2005 PMI Leadership Institute meeting in Edinburgh, Scotland.
In the fall of 2007, at PMI's Leadership Institute Meeting in Atlanta, Dave gave a presentation on how PMs can use non-verbal commnication as a tool to improve their effectiveness as leaders.
Dave completed training to become a Certified Scrum Master in 2007 and is currently engaged in projects that implement Scrum within a waterfall environment.
A PMP since 2002, Dave has been volunteering for the IT & Telecom SIG for a number of years and served as VP of Public Relations and VP of Technology and Vice-Chair.
In 2005 Dave received his MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas’ Executive Project Management Program. He also has a BA in Communications from Temple University.
