Project of the Year Award

The IT & T SIG Project of the Year Award recognizes successful projects that have made significant and measurable contributions to the delivery of Information Technology and Telecommunication projects by adequately applying project management concepts, techniques, practices or theories through the effective application of project management principles.



**Call for Nominations: 2008 IT & T SIG® Project of the Year Award**

The official kick-off for 2008 Project of the Year (POY) Award competition is here and we are inviting entries from all IT and Telecom project management professionals to participate in the program.  We shall continue to recognize excellent project management of IT and Telecommunication based on the PMI methodology.  'Raising the bar' of project management delivery in line with the PMI principles and techniques are the main focus for this competition.  We want to recognize you appropriately and value your accomplishments.  Recognition becomes ineffective when it's delayed or without a purpose.  Help ensure that this program is completed on time and with the purpose for which it is established by actively participating in the program according to the guideline.

Nomination Schedule:
All nomination entries to be sent to James Oni, Manager of POY Award, via the application process below.  The latest entry date is Dec. 31, 2008 and the winner will be announced in Jan., 2009.



Eligibility
♦ Projects of any size are eligible to be nominated for this award.
♦ PMI affiliation is not required.
♦ Nomination must be received no more than one year after project completion.
♦ Any project that effectively used project management principles is eligible providing:

A. The project has an approved scope, schedule, and budget as evidenced by a letter from the
Client/Owner/Organization.
B. The project has been accepted as complete by the Client/Owner/Organization prior to
nomination.
C. The project met or exceeded Owner/Client/Organization needs as evidenced by a letter from
the Owner/Client/Organization.

Criteria
Selection will be based on the project's demonstrated excellence in achieving the stated purpose of this award.
The nominated project must:

A. Meet or exceed owner/client/organization expectations through effective application of the
PMBOK® Knowledge Areas.
B. Demonstrate innovative application of project management techniques, practices, and methods
in the areas of team building, and effective communications.
C. Measurable demonstration of the enbling power of the project deliverables.

Selection
♦ IT & T SIG Project of the Year Award recipient will be selected from the nominations submitted to the
Manager, IT & T SIG Project of the Year Award (link above).
♦ The VP Professional Development, IT & T SIG in conjunction with the Manager, IT&T SIG Project of the
Year Award, will name the review panel that determines the award recipient(s).
♦ IT & T SIG reserves the right not to select a recipient of the award if the review performed indicates
that nominations do not meet the stated criteria.

Presentation
♦ IT & T SIG Project of the Year Award recipients will be notified of their selection as soon as possible
following approval of the award.
♦ A letter indicating the final decision on the submitted nominations signed by the IT&T SIG VP
Professional Development will be sent to the Lead Nominator.


This is an award for timely recognition of exceptional projects and the granting of such awards will be publicized in appropriate IT & T SIG communications vehicles. The VP of Professional Development will use various IT & T SIG communication vehicles as mechanisms to call for nominations from the membership at large. Call for Nominations will also be posted on the PMI and PMI IT&T SIG web sites.
