Topic: Leading Virtual Teams

Abstract:  Project management is a global activity and project management teams operate in a virtual way in many far flung areas of the world.

This article examines why teams are so important, some of the challenges for leaders of virtual teams, how the ‘health' and effectiveness of the team can be assessed and improved and concludes with some tips for leaders of virtual teams.

In an increasingly international business environment more and more companies and other work place organisations are turning to project teams to assist in meeting the challenges of globalisation. Project teams are now seen as a way of managing increasingly complex and dynamic business and operating environments. Teams are important and increasingly so because the problems associated with the complexity and dynamism of the global economy are better addressed by bringing together a multiplicity of views and perspectives represented by people working together.
